114 TEXAS BUILDING,  FAIRFIELD OAKS CONDO AND MAYBE FAIRGROUNDS FIELD TO BE BRIEFED TODAY BY PERKINS' ADMINISTRATION

The Shreveport City Council meets today at 3 p.m.

Chief Administrative Officer Henry Whitehorn advised  the council at the work session yesterday that the 114 Texas Street building would be addressed at today's council meeting.

Today's Shreveport Times had a public notice demanding abatement in 10 days and demolition of the building within 30 days.

Whitehorn was also requested to brief the council on the status of the Fairfield Oaks Condominiums on Fairfield that burned in April of last year.

The administration may also review the demand letter from Shreveport attorney Jerry Harper to cease demolition of Fairgrounds Field. Harper has raised the health issue of histoplasmososis, which is an infection contracted by breathing spores of a fungus found in bat droppings.

Harper's letter dated Mon. Sept. 7 indicated that a temporary restraining order would be sought to stop the demolition. Hopefully this issue will also be addressed by the administration.
