NEW SHREVEPORT COUNCIL MEMBERS BROOKS AND BOWMAN DRINKING THE KOOL AID?

As of today, Gary Brooks and Ursula Bowman have been Shreveport council members for all of 27 days. That’s less than a month.

By now they should know where to park their cars at Government Plaza, where the bathrooms are and the location of the council clerk's office. Maybe.

But how in God's green earth do they know if they need a liaison to help them do their job?

How many calls have they received about city services?

What happened to campaign promises to be not waste city dollars?

Or promises to be personally responsive to constituents?

Both Brooks and Bowman voted on the resolution to replace a $50,000 clerk employee with a $100,000 new position.

Neither Brooks nor Bowman offered any excuse to not wait for 6 months to see what the council job really requires.

Are they both in on the scam to give former mayor Perkins' legal adviser Shanerika Fleming a new cushy city hall job?

This is the same top advisor that switched the city's insurance carrier to a less competent agent before the mayor took office.

This is the same attorney whose legal career has been less than spectacular.

Goodness, where is the independent judgment both Brooks and Bowman touted in their campaign trails.

Elected officials are known to abandon campaign promises but these two council newbies are setting a record less than 45 days after their runoff victories.
