HATS OFF TO CADDO PARISH ANIMAL SERVICES!

It’s not often that the Caddo Parish Animal Services (CPAS) department gets kudos.

But certainly, CPAS has earned high fives by recent actions to capture three dangerous dogs.

KSLA reported on Jan. 27 that a child had to be taken to the hospital after being bitten by a dog at Caddo Middle Magnet School.

The child was not a student, but a child of an employee.

The incident occurred while students were outside at a PE class. One parent reported it was the second time the dog had gotten on the playground that week.

CPAS captured the dog and is holding it for 10 days in bite quarantine. CPAS officials are following up with dog owner concerning rabies vaccination and other matters.

Yesterday KSLA reported that two large dogs in Willow Point subdivision on Cross Lake were terrorizing residents.

They reported that the dogs bit an elderly man who was badly injured. It was also reported that the dogs had killed pets.

Reportedly these dogs have a history of being aggressive.

After notification CPAS responded quickly and captured these dogs.

They will be held in a bite quarantine for 10 days.

In both cases CPAS will conduct a thorough investigation to determine if they dogs should be put down.

Any recommendation is appealable to the Caddo Commission.
