Now that the names of the six applicants for the newly created position of Director of Council Affairs for the Shreveport City Council have been revealed by this author, what do we know about these applicants personally?
And what do we know about the prior relationships of each of these with one or more members of the Shreveport City Council.
For starters, it is well known that Shanerika Fleming was the person who authorized/facilitated the change in the city's insurance agent before Mayor Perkins was officially sworn into office.
It is known that RJ Johnson and councilmen Alan Jackson are fraternity brothers.
It is known that RJ Johnson is the chairman of the Caddo Parish Democratic Party Executive Committee which endorsed Jackson for city council in the 2022 election.
It is known that Tony Nations lost to Alan Jackson in a run-off election for District E against Alan Jackson in Nov. of last year.
It is NOT known the name of the "multi-state healthcare organization" cited by RJ Johnson on is vita where is listed he is the Director of Accreditation.
It is NOT known, at this time, if any of the applicants worked in any of the council member campaigns and/or contributed to their council campaigns.
It is NOT known, at this time, if any of the applicants have a prior criminal record or any outstanding judgments or liens.
It is NOT known, at this time, if any of the applicants has been terminated from prior employment(s) for misconduct.
It is NOT known, at this time, what council member(s) devised this plan of interviews by council panels.
It is NOT known, at this time, who will be supervisor will be of the Director of Council Affairs.
Hopefully information will be revealed by readers and shared with this writer and/or council members.
This need for information is one of the primary underlying purposes of the Louisiana Open Meetings Law which the council is attempting to skirt by having the committee/panel interviews this coming Friday.
