BETTY VIRGINIA PARK RETURNED TO CITIZEN USE FOR FREE UNOBSTRUCTED USE

Wonderful spring weather visited Shreveport this past week, after the Friday storms and early Sat. clouds.

And Shreveport citizens of all backgrounds were restored to their unlimited use of one of Shreveport's most popular parks--Betty Virginia Park.

Visitors were not impeded in walking the park trails.

Visitors could easily park in the two parking lots adjacent to the park.

Full access to ALL of the park was available and especially the "lake" area with the backstop.

The park was full of the joyful sound of children and adults, with no music interfering and loud announcements. Many visitors were enjoying picnics, the sunshine and the park's calming setting.

After all, isn't this what public parks are for?

This year should be the LAST year that Betty Virginia Park--and for that matter any Shreveport public park--should be used by a FOR PROFIT venture rent free.

And for that matter, no public park should be occupied by a fair/promotion for more than 8 hours.

Council members who support CRAWFEST in the park need to have a 3 day festival close to their homes--or maybe just camp out at the festival after paying the fee.
