Alan Jackson is a Shreveport city council member.
He has a doctorate degree from Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale.
He has an undergraduate degree and a master's degree from Northwestern State University.
He is the Director of Financial Aid & Scholarships at Grambling State University.
He held a similar position at SUSLA, where he was reportedly asked to resign.
He has a realtor's license.
None of these credentials gives Jackson a media-free bubble where his actions/inactions are not reported and commented upon.
These credentials did not give him a pass on violating ethics by having the council clerk's office send out campaign emails.
They did not give him a pass on using the council clerk's office address on campaign emails.
They did not give him a pass on posting oversized campaign signs and from posting them illegally in city right of ways.
They did not give him a pass on a suspicious fire at The Hookah Bar in which he was a part owner.
They did not give him a pass on failing to properly report his bar ownership to alcohol licensing agencies after the issuance of licenses.
They do not give him a pass from stating to the media that he represented the views "of the council" when he was talking of five of the seven.
They do not give him a pass from making factually inaccurate statements at the council meetings to support his position.
They do not give him a pass from being referred to as the spokesman for disenchanted council members James Green and Tabatha Taylor.
Evidently, they DO give him a pass from working a full 40-hour week at his day job at Grambling. Jackson is seen out and about many, many days of the month attending council meetings, political gatherings and other events during the workday.
And if Jackson thinks that a reference to him as "Bowtie Boy" is offensive, then maybe he should go back and get another degree.
Jackson supported two losers in the last mayoral election. His actions on the council this year reflect he is a sore loser who wants to derail the Arceneaux administration while he attempts to build up his image for a mayoral election.
If big boys/men want to play in the political arena, then they need to pull their panties up and take the heat with praise and adoration.
Maybe Jackson can find an online class about the reality of being an elected official and the rights of the media. He could start by asking a simple text--"will you allow questions at your townhall meeting?"
