SOCIAL MEDIA TRASHING OF AEP/SWEPCO TOTALLY UNWARRANTED BY COMPUTER COWARDS

The major disaster that struck northwest Louisiana last week was unprecedented.

That is an undeniable fact.

AEP/SWEPCO had almost 3000 workers from across the nation here trying to rectify the electrical power outages.

That is an undeniable fact.

And one of those workers died, presumably from a heat stroke.

This tragedy was only amplified by the heat-related death of a local resident.

These deaths are undeniable facts.

It has not been a fun experience for any citizen in northwest Louisiana, even if they did not have a power outage.

This is an undeniable fact.

AEP/SWEPCO has continually updated the public on the status of the outages, timelines for repair, and ways to contact the company directly.

These are undeniable facts.

There has been no credible information showing malfeasance by AEP/SWEPCO that resulted in or even contributed to this disaster.

This is an undeniable fact.

In times of stress, it is easy to demonize a person or a company--the old kick the dog tactic to take out frustrations.

Unfortunately, this has been the case with many citizens who have resorted to social media to trash this company, its employees and those that have been brought in to help expedite repairs.

In today's world its easy, way too easy, to get on a computer or a cell phone and write messages that would not have been delivered face to face.

This instinctive reaction may be understandable, but not acceptable.

It’s time for the computer cowards to "chill" and be thankful when they have electricity and wait until everyone in this area is restored to electrical power.
