MAKE YOUR VOTE COUNT: HERE’S HOW TO PROPERLY FILL A MAIL-IN BALLOT

In an effort to ensure every vote that is cast is counted, the Caddo Parish Registrar of Voters provided a sample ballot to aid voters in properly casting votes for upcoming elections.

Early voting for the March 23 Presidential Preference / Municipal Primary Election starts on March 9, and Dale Sibley, Caddo Parish Registrar of Voters, wants to make sure voters properly fill out documentation and have the proper identification when casting mail-in, early voting- or show up to polling places on election day.

Tips for filling out a mail-in ballot:

• Ensure that the ballot you received is your ballot. Do this by verifying the voter label on your affidavit.

• Write in your mother’s maiden name where required

• Voters MUST SIGN and print their name as it is printed on the voter label in the first signature box

• A witness MUST SIGN below the voter. Every mail-in ballot requires a witness signature

• If the witness helps the voter fill out the ballot, the witness must sign the last signature box on the ballot

• Only ONE witness signature is allowed per ballot

• Witnesses may sign more than one ballot if they are immediate family

• Follow all instructions listed on the sample ballot and attached affidavit

New Caddo Parish voting precincts went into effect in 2024 voter registration card noting pricing changes precinct, if any. If you moved or had your name changed, you must correct voter information with the Louisiana Secretary of State. Changes can be made online, in-person at the Registrar of Voters office or request that the appropriate forms be mailed to you by calling 318-226-6891.

Early voting in Caddo Parish can be done at the Caddo Registrar of Voters office at 525 Marshall St. Suite 103, and the Hamilton Branch of the Shreve Memorial Library at 2111 Bert Kouns Industrial Loop. Vote early from March 9 through March 16 from 8:30 a.m. through 6 p.m. excluding Sunday, March 10.

To vote early you must bring proof of identification such as a driver’s license or other government ID. Visit caddovoter.org to check your registration status or learn what is on the ballot in your precinct.
