HOW MANY SPD OFFICERS NEEDED FOR A SUBSTATION GROUNDBREAKING

It was a big “brass” event, as in high-ranking officers.

Yesterday a groundbreaking was held for the third Shreveport Police Department (SPD) substation on the corner of St. Vincent and 70th Street.

Many dignitaries were in attendance including the Shreveport’s mayor, CAO, his executive assistant and his public relations person.

The head of SPAR and  SPORTRAN along with council members Gary Brooks, Grayson Boucher, Jim Talaiferro, and Tabatha Taylor were present at the ceremony. There were others from the community.

SPD Chief Wayne Smith was one of the featured speakers. To ensure safety at the 11 a.m. event, Chief Wayne summoned SPD lieutenants and higher ups. There were approximately 25 high-ranking officers present witnessing the ceremonial groundbreaking.

The weather was great, the ceremony was short, and everyone was pleasant. And to top it off,  no crimes were committed on the scene.
