That's the word on the street.
Senator Alan Seabaugh has sent out an invitation to "An Important Announcement" to be made by him on Tuesday Oct. 14 at 2 p.m. at Superior Mexican Grill.
Its predicted Seabaugh will announce his 2026 candidacy for the Caddo District Attorney seat.
Seabaugh will no doubt emphasize a "hard on criminals/law and order" campaign against incumbent DA James Stewart. This despite comments published statewide by Gov. Jeff Landry that Stewart was doing a good job as DA.
Senator Alan has lost favor with Landry who vetoed several bills that would have benefitted his Senate district. To say he will have a major uphill battle is an understatement. Other than an "R" behind his name Seabaugh's qualifications as a staunch insurance defense lawyer for the DA seat are minimal at best.
Stewart is well respected not only in the legal community but the entire parish as well. He has instituted many progressive programs in his office, and he is a staunch advocate for needed community programs. Stewart will no doubt have the strong support of retired Justice Scott Crichton and Caddo Sheriff Henry Whitehorn along with many community leaders.
Superior Grill is not a known venue for political announcements, and some will suggest strong margaritas will certainly be in order after Seabaugh’s press event. Considering his poor likelihood for success in this race, maybe Senator Alan should hit the bar for a few both before and after his three minutes of fame next Thursday afternoon.
