Each of the 6 major NW LA sales taxing jurisdictions reported a higher September collection vs 2024, Bossier quite a bit more so than Caddo.
The City of Shreveport levies a 2.75% sales and use tax and employs a calendar fiscal year. Its September figure of $13,535,760 is 1.3% more than last year. Its year-to date tally of $125,008,709 is 2.6% above last year's sum of $121,893,066 through 9 months, or 3/4, of its fiscal year.
The Caddo Parish School imposes a 1.5% taxing rate and operates on the July 1 to June 30 fiscal year used by all LA school boards. CPSB is up 1.0% for September, garnering $8,824,644 vs $8,741,03 a year back. Its 3-month YTD figure of $27,389,641 is 1.9% higher than $26,882,191.
The Law Enforcement District of Caddo, ie the Sheriff, has a 0.35% tax rate and keeps its books on a calendar fiscal year. It is 1.2% greater in September this year vs 2024, $2,059,425 vs $2,034,085. YTD through 9 months this year its $19,278,316 is 3.2% above $18,674,487 in 2024.
Bossier City-Parish is up 9.7% vs September 2024 with $5,871,895 for this year, whereas in 2024 it was $5,353,417. Its 9-month YTD figure, $51,014,061, is 5.3% greater than 2024's like period of $48,456,405.
The Bossier Parish School Board's collection of $6,102,889 is a large 10.2% jump from September 2024. Its 3-month YTD figure is 9.5% up from last year, $18,183,790 vs $16,605,519, a very good first quarter.
The Bossier Parish Police Jury, on a calendar fiscal footing, is far up from last year, September's $1,256,42 being an 11.0% increase from the $1,132,454 a year ago. Its YTD total is 1.8% above 2024, with its $10,015,531 deposit this year topping 2024's number of $9,841,833
