Goodness, the mayoral announcement of Stormy Gage-Watts has suddenly opened the floodgates for hot stove talk about mayoral hopefuls. It’s early for the turkeys to arrive, but then all the holidays are promoted much sooner these days.
Now another person has jumped into the mayoral frying pan. Michael Mays, a relatively Shreveport unknown, has announced he will run for mayor.
Michael Williams says he is considering running for the city’s top spot.
A new name is being rumored by a certain political kingmaker. It’s a new name to this writer who was not born and raised in Shreveport.
Faith Jenkins is a Shreveport native and a C.E Byrd graduate. She is a Tech and Southern Law School graduate.
She worked as a litigator in New York City and then as an Assistant DA in Manhattan.
Jenkins won the Miss Louisiana title in 2000 and was the first runner-up in the 2001 Miss America pageant.
Her media career includes working as a legal analyst for CNN, MSNBC, and Fox News. She is also known for hosting Judge Faith, Justice by Any Means, and Killer Relationship with Faith Jenkins television roles/
Jenkins is married to R&B singer Kenny Lattimore, and they have one daughter.
She is now living in Shreveport, which checks a box that just announced Stormy Gage-Watts must fill.
A new face with no political experience can become a viable mayoral candidate. Think Adrian Perkins who beat Ollie Tyler who was seeking a second term.
You can add these names to the list that includes Senator Sam Jenkins and former senator Greg Tarver.
