John came to Shreveport in January of 1977 when he was transferred to Barksdale AFB.

He’s been active in Shreveport politics since deciding to make Shreveport his home.

John practiced law for 40 years and he now monitors local politics. He regularly attends Shreveport City Council and Caddo Parish Commission meetings.

John is published weekly in The Inquisitor, bi-monthly in The Forum News, and frequently in the Shreveport Times.

He enjoys addressing civic groups on local government issues and elections.

 

NOVEMBER 21ST SHREVEPORT POLICE DEPARTMENT CRIME REPORT

Shreveport Police Chief Wayne Smith gave his monthly crime report on Friday, November 21.
 
1.  38 year to date homicides, compared to 46 years to date in 2024, and 77 year to date in 2023.
 
2.  1842 shots fired year to date, compared to 2280 year to date in 2024, and 2622 in 2023 year to date.
 
3.  203 shootings year to date, compared to 250 years to date in 2024, and 301 year to date in 2023.
 
4.  481 sex crimes year to date, compared to 425 year to date in 2024.
 
5.  1099 vehicle thefts year to date, compared to 1135 year to date in 2024.
 
6.  53 armed robberies year to date, compared to 67 year to date in 2024.
 
7.  1175 business/residence burglaries year to date, compared to 1470 year to date in 2024.
 
8.  847 vehicle burglaries year to date, compared to 1053 year to date in 2024.
 
9.  12 car-jacking year to date, compared to 18 year to date in 2024.
 
10. 2538 assaults and batteries year to date, compared to 2669 year to date in 2024.
 
11. 2525 domestic violence year to date, compared to 2338 year to date in 2024.
 
12. 1228 major accidents year to date, compared to 1168 year to date in 2024.
 
13. 7578 minor accidents year to date, compared to 7344 year to date in 2024.
 
14. 42 fatal crashed year to date, compared to 35 year to date in 2024.
 
Chief Smith also reported that only 20 SPD personnel remained at the headquarters at 1234 Texas Avenue. Now 454 personnel have been re-assigned to SPD substations. This number does not include jail, dispatch, property room  and lake patrol.
