It’s no secret that Chelette Holden, a DDA board member, owns/operates three downtown bars/lounges. Two are on Texas Street—literally across from each other. Holden also operates/owns GSpot in the Red River District.
Violence is constantly happening at the two Holden Texas Street bars. There have been many violations of fire code maximum capacity limits for these establishments.
The mob scene Friday night was in front of one of Holden’s Texas Street bars.
The two recent homecoming events in the Red River District drew large crowds with violence at one of them. The G-Spot was the center of both unpermitted gatherings.
Holden has close ties with one or more members of the City Council. She also has ties with Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson. To date, these connections have insulated Holden and her bars from active police enforcement and city ordinance violations.
Holden and the GSpot manager have appeared before the Council touting their desire for a safe downtown area. If either of them show up at the special Shreveport City Council meeting tomorrow at 10 a.m., one can expect more alibis and claims of innocence as to their responsibilities to prevent/discourage unlawful acts.
