SPD FIRE POWER WILL MOST LIKELY BE ON FULL DISPLAY IN DOWNTOWN SHREVEPORT THIS WEEKEND

Late is better than never.

But then, it is NOT Halloween weekend when violence can not only be expected but is usually the norm. Hopefully the hoodlums will stay home, repent and become model citizens. Don’t hold your breath.

Last weekend’s violence on Texas Street resulted in community outrage. One can expect a virtual law enforcement military parade on downtown streets starting at about 10 pm on Friday night continuing through early Sunday morning.

Here is the fire power that may be employed in addition to SPD personnel:

1.   Million-dollar top of the line SPD command center

2.   SPD hydraulic lift observation tower

3.   Mobile police camera units

4.   SWAT team

5.   Drones

6.   SPD Bearkat

7.   K-9 units

8.   SPD Bicycle Patrol

9.   SPD Mounted Patrol

10. Marked SPD cars parked on streets.

11. Real Time Crime Center personnel peering into every downtown camera feed.

And to these possibilities, add the Desoto Parish helicopter with glaring headlights, Caddo Sheriff, Shreveport City Marshal, Louisiana State Police, Probation/Parole, and maybe even ICE personnel

With good look there will NOT be any unpermitted gatherings in the Red River District or for that matter another event like the SLUTAWEEN contest at Haze on Texas, a bar owned/operated by DDA board member Chelette Holden. With this being a non-holiday weekend and all the press, one can assume/hope the thugs stay home will be watching TV versus going out on the streets.

This show of force by all the local law enforcement agencies should provide comfort to local residents, and especially those who want to go to the downtown area. What impact it will have on “bad guys/gals” is an unknown.
