NO PROBLEMS WITH WATER SALES TO PROPOSED SHREVEPORT DATA CENTER

Yes, there have been past challenges in the taste, smell, and appearance of Shreveport water.

And yes, there have been past challenges with water pressure in certain areas of Shreveport.

However, there have NEVER been problems with an adequate supply of water for Shreveport residents or businesses.

The water plant facilities were designed to supply water to over 225,000 residents and businesses. Currently there are approximately 180,000 customers of water. There is plenty of excess capacity to provide substantially more water to residents and businesses.

The estimated revenue from the sale of water to the proposed data center is $4 million per year. These funds will be used to upgrade water plant facilities and pay expenses of Shreveport’s Water and Sewage (DOWAS) Department.

The contractual requirements for the proposed data center will require the center owner to pay additional money for any needed new infrastructure and water plant facilities to provide the needed water for the facility. There will be NO cost to the city of Shreveport or DOWAS customers for these upgrades.

Additionally, the center owner will build a new water towner if needed by DOWAS. A new tower will further contribute to the maintenance of water pressure to DOWAS customers.

Bottomline, the sale of water to a data center will provide much needed revenue for DOWAS with NO additional expense or detriment to Shreveport water customers.
