REVISED: NUCLEAR POWER PLANT COMING TO BARKSDALE AIR FORCE BASE?

The electric power issue this past weekend highlighted the need for more electricity generation, more distribution capacity, and better conservation.

At the press conference at Foster Campbell's office the need for nuclear power was listed as an alternative to replace fossil fuel power generation.

Bossier Senator Adam Bass has introduced Senate Bill 127 that may have a substantial impact on electric power generation at Barksdale Air Force Base. Specifically, it authorizes the secretary of the Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) to establish regulations to assist the construction of a nuclear power plant at the base.

The plant will power the base and possibly a 200-mile radius outside of the base.

Stay tuned.
