DONATION BY WK HEALTH  BIG BOOST FOR ANGLIN/MYERS INITIATIVE

The Anglin/Myers Public Safety Initiative aims to bring justice to the lost lives of so many affected by gun violence in our community.

The initiative provides funds for state-of-the art technology resources that are proven to reduce crime and ensure that random acts of violence can be reduced.

The initiative is named after two Shreveport youth killed by gun violence.

Landry Anglin, 13, was sitting with her family when a stray bullet from a rolling vehicle gun battle went through the South Highlands house  and killed her.

Devin Myers, 17, was fatally shot in the Queensborough neighborhood as he walked home from basketball practice.

Moneys donated to the Initiative are utilized by the Caddo Parish Sheriff Office in conjunction with Shreveport Police to install cameras and license plate readers in high crime areas. These devices are tied into the Shreveport Real Time Crime Center.

This afternoon Willis Knighton Health donated $48,000 to the Initiative. This donation is part of the WK yearly tithe back to the community. To date this is the largest donation to the Initiative.

WK Health is to be commended for this contribution, along with the many other donations to local civic organizations and community efforts.
