Love them or hate them--but fireworks can now be legally discharged in both Shreveport and Bossier now through July 5.
BUT...both cities prohibit lighting the fireworks between AFTER 10 p.m.
In Shreveport and Caddo revelers can start shooting fireworks at 8 a.m. In Bossier the starting time is 10 a.m., both in the city and the parish.
Hopefully, celebrating citizens REMEMBER and HONOR the 10 p.m. rule.
Who has a pet that goes bonkers when fireworks are discharged?
Who has a young infant/child that is terrified by late night barrages of fireworks?
Who is or knows a senior citizen who regularly hits the sack by 10 p.m. and does NOT enjoy being woken by fireworks?
All the money, matches, and energy expended on fireworks could certainly fuel large BBQs with plenty of booze.
Maybe the fireworks could be used as starters for all the grillers. That would start off the weekend festivities with a bang!
Speaking of fireworks, there may be some at Government Plaza this afternoon. An agenda item is ratification of the Bernie Sanders resolution.
And tomorrow good government wonks will be celebrating a new day in Bossier City politics when four progressive city council members are sworn in along with three returning and the mayor.
