(The Center Square) – The Caddo Parish financial report details for August allocated budgets for salaries totaling over $22 million this year throughout all funds.
The report groups salaries by department based on their funding source.
Previously, The Center Square received reports from Open the Books through a public records request that detailed Caddo Parish’s top five salaries, ranging from $160,000 to nearly $400,000 for the fiscal year 2023 – a combination of $1.2 million for the top highest paid officials in the parish that year.
Now for 2025, the parish is allocating over $22 million in salaries. Under commission, the annual budget allots $265,360 for regular employees and $273,710 for commissioners for the current year from the General Fund.
Within the District Court division inside the Criminal Justice department, which remains in the General Fund, salaries are significantly higher, at $1.29 million, for regular employees. The Administration department salaries are similar at $1.39 million for the year.
Human Resources budgets $414,600 for regular employees, which is slightly greater than last year, when the actual amount totaled $396,470. The Finance department also budgeted more this year than in the previous year, with $840,123 versus $784,993.
Other salaries included in the General Fund are the Communications department at $223,000, Information Systems at $340,440, special salaries for the David Raines Communication Center totaling $6,500 and a budgeted $207,112 for regular employees under the Registrar of Voters, with an additional $250,000 for part-time employees.
Apart from the General Fund, the Public Works fund also budgets for salaries. The financials begin with Road Administration, which has a budget of $886,795 for the year for regular employees and $46,330 for part-time employees. Fleet Services showed $461,210 for this year's budgeted salaries, along with $1.2 million for South Camp employees. North Camp shows an $881,740 budget for salaries.
Under the Courthouse division, the parish budgets $2.25 million for regular employees and $52,970 for part-time. Juvenile Services Probation Operations Division budgets roughly the same – $2.32 million for regular employees. Juvenile detention budgets $1.66 million, with both coming from the Juvenile Justice Fund.
Animal services salaries reach $1 million as well, with the Animal and Mosquito department budgeting $1.44 million for animal services regular employees.
In total, the parish budgeted $22.01 million for salaries across all departments outlined in the monthly financial report. In 2023, Caddo Parish paid roughly $16 million to those employed on the parish payroll.
