CITY OF SHREVEPORT FAILS TO DISCLOSE INCOME AND EXPENSES OF THE CURRENT RED RIVER DISTRICT TIF

The Shreveport City Council is set to vote on a new Tax Incentive Financing (TIF) District at its regular meeting on Tues. Sept. 23. The proposed new TIF District includes the Red River District along with properties owned by and/or leased to Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson.

Assuming the new district is created, the immediate income that will be generated for it will be the three open businesses in the Red River District. These are the same funding businesses for the current TIF.

All that is known about the current TIF district is that it has not been well funded. But how much has been funded and how have those monies been spent.

A public records request for this information on Sept. 11 and it was directed to the Finance Department.

A follow-up email to the director of that department was made on Mon. Sept. 15.

A second follow-up email was sent yesterday (Sept 18)..

Crickets.

Seemingly this information should be readily available. Additionally, this information will be helpful for evaluating the proposed new TIF.

Geez....what's the deal?
