ANOTHER BIG HAUL TO FINISH UP SHREVEPORT'S BLOCK BY BLOCK INITIATIVE

The eleven week Block by Block Initiative wrapped up on Saturday Sept. 19 in the Broadmoor Neighborhood.

Public Works, Property Standards and volunteers had another great effort. A total of 27 tons of "stuff" was collected for the landfill. You name it, and it was picked up.

Additionally, 82 abandoned tires were collected. Tire dealers who collect the state mandated tire disposal fee but fail to recycle used tires are a major culprit in this continuing practice of illegal dumping throughout the city.

Public Works and Property Standards personnel thankfully can enjoy Saturdays without pickup duties now. Hats off to all who made this city-wide effort a success.
