John came to Shreveport in January of 1977 when he was transferred to Barksdale AFB.

He’s been active in Shreveport politics since deciding to make Shreveport his home.

John practiced law for 40 years and he now monitors local politics. He regularly attends Shreveport City Council and Caddo Parish Commission meetings.

John is published weekly in The Inquisitor, bi-monthly in The Forum News, and frequently in the Shreveport Times.

He enjoys addressing civic groups on local government issues and elections.

 

UFC Star Dustin Poirier Set to Appear at Shreveport Card Show: The BIG Show

The Shreveport Card Show is proud to announce that UFC lightweight superstar Dustin “The Diamond” Poirier will make a special appearance at The BIG Show, scheduled for January 3–4, 2026 at the Shreveport Convention Center.

Poirier, one of the most respected names in mixed martial arts, will meet fans in person for a two-hour session on Saturday, January 3, 2026. Attendees will have the exclusive opportunity to purchase autographs, take photos, and participate in a one-of-a-kind meet & greet with the Louisiana native.

“Having Dustin Poirier at The BIG Show is huge for both our event and the Shreveport community,” said Colvin Roberson, organizer of the Shreveport Card Show. “He’s not only an incredible fighter, but also a role model whose story inspires fans across the globe. We’re thrilled to bring him home to connect with his supporters.”

The Shreveport Card Show has quickly grown into one of the South’s premier collectibles events, featuring over 350 vendor tables, sports cards, Pokémon, memorabilia, comics, artists, and family-friendly activities. The January show—billed as “The BIG Show”—is expected to draw 5,000+ attendees, making it the largest card show ever held in Northwest Louisiana.
