DDA PREZ ELECT DUNN SETS BAD EXAMPLE FOR DOWNTOWN BUILDING OWNERS

He is the president elect for Shreveport's Downtown Development Authority (DDA). He presently serves as vice-president.

He has been tentatively named as a shareholder in the District Manager of the proposed Shreveport Film and Entertainment Gateway Economic Development District.

He is the owner of the vacant building at 709 Texas Street which has holes in the building facade that mars the appearance of not only that building but also the best remodeled block in the 700 block of Texas Street.

His building was the subject of a Settle Talk column on January 13, 2025, addressing this eyesore; see below with the picture of 709 Texas Street and the referenced column.

He has NOT taken any remedial steps since January 13, 2025, to rectify this eyesore.

For several years the front window of  this building was  covered in brown paper that had curled and was falling in places. He only had the mural painted on the front window after a Settle Talk column was published calling him out.

Dreyden Dunn is the owner of this vacant building.

Dunn should be setting a good example for all downtown building owners, especially those on Texas Street including those owned by Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson building, as the current vice-president of DDA much less president elect.

Dunn should also NOT be named as a shareholder in the projected economic district with this eyesore on Texas Street.

People in leadership positions should set examples, not be the owner of an eyesore building that is probably in violation of the strict downtown property standards code.

EYESORE AT 709 TEXAS IS MAJOR DISTRACTION IN BEST REMODELED DOWNTOWN BLOCK

The picture below is of the building at 709 Texas Street.

The brown paper cover of the building door certainly detracts from the great window mural.

But what is much, much worse are the holes in the facade above the window and the door.

These holes are like broken decayed front teeth in a mouthful of pearly whites.

The 700 block of Texas--the last block before First Church--is filled with remodeled storefronts on both sides of the street. This block is the best testament to building recycling in all of downtown.

But then, there is 709 Texas sticking out like a sore thumb.

The building owner is Drayden Dunn.

He is on the executive committee of the Downtown Development Authority.

He was recently named as one of the Shreveport Chamber's 40 under 40.

Dunn  is the vice chair of the Shreveport Bossier African American Chamber of Commerce.

His wife Brittney is listed as the past chair on the chamber's website.

One can only wish that Dunn would take as much pride in his 707 Texas Street Building as he obviously does in his civic involvement. True leaders lead by example and not by resume entries.
