On Saturday, October 4, 2025, brave community members will take their support to new heights—literally—by rappelling down the Fairmont Tower Apartments in downtown Shreveport. The Fuller Center for Housing of Northwest Louisiana, in partnership with Shreveport Common, An Uncommon Cultural District, will host “Over the Edge”, a thrilling fundraiser to help build homes and transform blight into bright, thriving neighborhoods. The event challenges participants to raise funds for the chance to rappel down one of Shreveport’s tallest buildings while supporting a powerful mission: providing decent, affordable housing for families in need. Spectators will enjoy a lively street party hosted by the Shreveport Regional Arts Council (SRAC), ensuring the day is filled with fun, community spirit, and purpose. “This event is more than just a daring adventure—it’s a way for our community to rally around families who deserve a safe, decent place to call home,” said Lee Jeter, Executive Director of the Fuller Center for Housing of Northwest Louisiana. “Every dollar raised goes directly to building and repairing homes, turning areas of blight into neighborhoods full of hope and opportunity.” Mayor Tom Arceneaux has already committed to strapping on a harness and rappelling down the Fairmont Tower in support of the cause.
Over the Edge is the only global industrial rappelling event company that partners with nonprofits to create exciting, safe, and memorable fundraising experiences. Participants—from age 10 to 104—have included celebrities, local leaders, parents, business professionals, and adventure seekers of all backgrounds. And yes, anyone can rappel!
