SHREVEPORT COUNCILMAN JACKSON MISSES MANY MEETING

It's no secret that Shreveport City Councilman Alan Jackson lives in Austin Texas.

He has been employed at Huston-Tillotson University since he resigned under pressure from Grambling University for failing to properly take PTO to attend Shreveport City Council meetings.

Jackson generally comes to Shreveport on the weekends before his Monday and Tuesday council meetings every other week. His actual residence in Shreveport is unknown.

Since January of 2023 through December 2025 Jackson has been a frequent “no show” in the council chambers.

A public records request reveals the following:

a.  Jackson has missed seven (7) work sessions/administrative conferences

b.  Jackson has missed 12 regular council meetings

c.  Jackson has missed 4 special meetings of the council

d.  Jackson has missed 3 council committee meetings.

Jackson’s attendance records for the years 2023 and 2024 show that he is, in effect, a very very part-time council member. Put another way he has failed to properly represent his District E at council meetings by his frequent non-attendance at council meetings.

Unfortunately for his constituents Jackson plans on seeking re-election this fall and has already conducted a fundraising event. Jackson failed to attend the council meeting that granted city employees a raise for 2026, which obviously shows his priorities.

Jackson will be opposed this fall by Alvin Oliver.
