HAKIM FAMILY, OWNER OF MANY DOWNTOWN EMPTY BUILDINGS, BUYS MAJOR NOLA BUILDING

The Hakim Family of Monroe has recently purchased one of New Orlean’s most prominent office towers. The deal to buy the 32-story 400 Poydras Tower closed last week.

The family also owns Orleans Tower, formerly known as Amoco Tower, and the DXC building  on Poydras.

Eddie Hakim is the founder and CEO of Nuby. This company is best known for sippy cups and other baby products.

While the Hakim Family is buying high end office space in NOLA. It has treated most of its Shreveport holdings as red headed step-children.

The Hakims own the long abandoned and unleashed Slattery Building, the Johnson Building, Panos Diner, along with the old Sporran bus terminal.

The Hakims also own the Lane Building on Marshall and the former Chase Tower on Texas Street. Both buildings have some tenants and have building managers.

The Hakims are the largest building square footage owner in the downtown area, by a long shot. Except for the Lane Building and the former Chase Tower and maybe the Sportran tent, Hakim’s holdings have little potential for sale or utilization without substantial expenditures.

Red-headed step children usually get the hand me downs and for the most part that is what the Hakims have contributed to downtown Shreveport.
