COMMAND DECISION: MAYOR ARCENEAUX TO SKIP WASHINGTON MARDI GRAS

The Mardi Gras party of all Mardi Gras parties is in the nation’s capital this weekend.

It all starts with a welcoming party tomorrow (Thurs.) with great Louisiana seafood.

Friday is meeting with leaders at capitol hill and Friday night is the Friday Festival.

Saturday is a day for touring and Saturday night the Mardi Gras Ball with the King and Queen.

Sunday is hangover day and travel day.

Shreveport Mayor Arceneaux and wife Virginia had planned to attend. With the sleet/ice storm Mayor Tom has decided to stay at home. As they say in the military, it was a command decision, and a good one for the City of Shreveport.

Fortunately, none of the basic city services have been severely affected. Good planning by city officials has obviously contributed to this success.

But it's still early because  warming temperatures bring their own set of problems. And city workers have not yet returned to city hall.

Mayor Tom is commended for his decision to stay here and stay in command because that is the job of a responsible leader, our mayor.
