SEABAUGH’S DA RACE A BIG WASTE OF TIME AND MONEY

State Senator Alan Seabaugh announced his candidacy for Caddo District Attorney at a popular Mexican restaurant/bar in southeast in October last year.

Incumbent DA James Stewart is announcing his re-election bid at 1:30 p.m. today at the Mount Canaan Baptist Church community center.

At the end of 2025, Seabaugh had less than $800 in his senatorial campaign fund, which can be used for his DA race.

DA Stewart had over $100,000 in his campaign fund on Dec. 31, 2025.

Seabaugh, a Republican, has criticized  Republican Governor Jeff Landry and Landry vetoed several funding projects in Seabaugh’s senatorial district.

DA Stewart, a Democrat, has been praised by Republican Governor Landry as an effective DA.

On KEEL radio Seabaugh said that Landry has been a “huge disappointment”.

Stewart has publicly thanked “Gov. Landry for this statement in support of me and the Caddo Parish District Attorney’s Office.”

Seabaugh is a virtual stranger in a criminal courtroom.

Stewart has served as an assistant DA, a District Judge, and an appellate judge, with experience in thousands of criminal cases.

Seabaugh has an antagonist personality that has not endeared him to many Republicans, much less Democrats.

Stewart has a likeable personality and a  proven record of working with Caddo citizens throughout the parish without regard to political party affiliation.

Seabaugh’s base of support for the DA race will be diehard Republicans and Insurance PACS that have previously supported him.

Stewart's base will be both influential and deep pocket local Republicans and Democrats.

Bottomline, Seabaugh’s ego and future political aspirations are attributable to this futile effort to dislodge Stewart. His campaign will most likely hurt Mayor Arceneaux’s re-election campaign by giving Stormy Gage-Watts and any other Democrat long coattails to get Democrat voters to the polls.
