BAD NEWS IN SHREVEPORT MASTER PLAN PRESENTATION

At the Shreveport City Council meeting yesterday (Tues.) an update on the Great Expectations Master Plan presentation was presented to the council.

Here is a quick summary of the PowerPoint:

1. Between 2010 and 2022, Shreveport lost 10,000 jobs and 21,000 residents

2. Shreveport will likely have fewer people in 2050 than in 1980 or 1970, but it will have much more land area

3. The initial Great Expectations report assumed adding 70,000 jobs and 40,000 households by 2030

4. Shreveport is the center of the northwest Louisiana and this location drives the future of the city

5. It is imperative that Shreveport retain its residents and stem out-migration

6. Shreveport must become a community of choice to compete.

The update contains information on neighborhoods and corridors, neighborhood planning and a five-year strategic plan.
