BOTH GAGE-WATTS AND PHELPS HAVE DOWNTOWN CAMPAIGN EVENTS TODAY

Today (Thurs.) state Representative Tammy Phelps will have her formal mayoral campaign announcement at 5 p.m. at the Robinson Film Center.

At 5:30 p.m. Caddo Commissioner Stormy Gage-Watts is having a $5, $10, $20 fundraiser at the Petroleum Club.

Both downtown events should provide insights into each campaign.

Robinson Film Center is a rare venue for a political announcement which no doubt will also serve as an initial fundraiser.

Without a doubt the Petroleum Club has NEVER hosted a fundraiser seeking donations of $20 or less.

The faces in the crowd at both events will be noteworthy and hopefully social media will provide this insight for public viewing.

Both ladies attend Theron Jackson’s church and Jackson was high profile at Stormy’s mayoral announcement. Whether or not this will lead to a divided church that purports to be a Shreveport political powerhouse is a story to follow.

Attendees at these events will undoubtedly be on the lookout for Jackson, backscene political operator Lynn Braggs, moneyman Roy Griggs, and other politicos tonight including elected officials.

Caddo Commissioner John-Paul Young, who attended Stormy’s announcement, will likely be a no show since he has now declared his candidacy for mayor.

The credentials/qualifications of these ladies are polar opposites the should lead to totally different alliances in the mayor’s race. For beginners, Phelps actually lives in the Shreveport city limits.
