UPDATE: GAGE-WATTS CAN NOT CALL ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE MEETING

Yesterday’s Settle Talk questioned the ability of mayoral candidate Caddo Commissioner Stormy Gage-Watts to call an Economic Development Committee meeting of the Caddo Commission this week.

For beginners, Caddo Commission president  Greg Young has not announced the membership of the Economic Development Committee. Secondly, he has not named a chairman.

Thus, there will NOT be a committee meeting tomorrow (Thurs.)

Evidently, Stormy has cut a back room deal with Young to be named the chair of the Economic Development Committee. So much for the transparency and progressive government that Young promised as president. If this action reminds readers of the recognition resolution Gage-Watts presented to Bernie Sanders, then join the club.

Gage-Watts obviously misses the media focus she enjoined as Commission president, which was because of her position, not her personality. No doubt if she assumes the chairmanship of the Economic Development Committee, she can attempt to have high profile committee meetings that will put her back in the media spotlight.

Stormy is now in the mayoral candidate fishbowl where there is no place to hide and every action is visible to all. And the water in the fishbowl often becomes quite warm and even hot. One hopes she will establish a bona fide residency in Shreveport while she navigates the fishbowl.
