Candidate Announcement District E

Shreveport NAACP Branch President, retired U.S. Army veteran, longtime business owner of a transportation and logistics company, community activist, and Shreveport native Alvin Oliver announces his candidacy for Shreveport City Council District E.

Alvin Oliver's 25-year track record as a successful business owner in the transportation industry—employing countless families and contributing to Shreveport's economy and community growth—will bring his business acumen, loyalty, honesty, and dedication to the City Council. Oliver believes District E needs full-time representation because an empty seat means no voice and no vote.

He promises to be that voice every time, all the time, attending all work sessions, special sessions, critical budget meetings, and voting on all legislation impacting our Shreveport economy.

Oliver's priorities include higher wages for city employees, safer streets and neighborhoods, improved road infrastructure, clean water infrastructure, blight reduction, and building  better working relationships with the mayor and fellow council members to spark economic growth.
