A NEW DAY AT SHREVEPORT CITY COURT FOR JUDGES, STAFF AND CITIZENS

The start of Shreveport City Judge Sheva Sim’s nine-month suspension has had domino effect, and a very good one at that, at Shreveport City Court.

In short order major changes have occurred:

1.  Retired Shreveport City Judge Bill Kelly has been appointed by the Louisiana Supreme Court Justice Cade Cole as ad hoc through April 6.

 2.  Judge Brian Barber has been sworn in as Chief Judge.

3.  Judge Brittany Arvie has taken over as Administrative Judge.

These changes will immediately lessen tension among the judges and court staff, improve judicial temperament on the bench and provide more consistency in judicial rulings.

Citizens appearing in Shreveport City Court will no longer have concerns regarding the respect, fairness and certainty that existed when their cases were assigned to Sim’s courtroom.
