John came to Shreveport in January of 1977 when he was transferred to Barksdale AFB.

He’s been active in Shreveport politics since deciding to make Shreveport his home.

John practiced law for 40 years and he now monitors local politics. He regularly attends Shreveport City Council and Caddo Parish Commission meetings.

John is published weekly in The Inquisitor, bi-monthly in The Forum News, and frequently in the Shreveport Times.

He enjoys addressing civic groups on local government issues and elections.

 

$1.1 MILLION DOLLAR UPGRADES COMPLETE AT EARL G. WILLIAMSON PARK; PUBLIC INVITED TO CELEBRATE

Caddo Parish, LA - Over $1 million dollars in upgrades are complete at Earl G. Williamson Park in Oil City (11425 LA-1, Oil City, LA) and accessible to the public beginning March 27.
 
Major upgrades include a new, accessible playground. Designed for children ages 5–12, the playground features modern, inclusive equipment, a poured-in-place safety surface, and a 45’ x 55’ fabric shade structure. The shade structure reduces playground surface temperatures by up to 25 degrees and blocks 96% of harmful UV rays.
 
Additional park improvements include:
 
A new accessible floating fishing pier measuring 203 feet, with a 60-foot cross pier and 10-foot-wide walkways
 
A metal shade structure over an existing eight (😎 table picnic area near the boat launch
 
Thirty-four (34) new single picnic shelters throughout the park

“Park upgrades of this nature will continue to be the standard for our nationally accredited parks department,” said Patrick Wesley, Caddo Parish Parks and Recreation Director.

“These improvements serve to enhance the quality of life and recreational opportunities for all of our Caddo Parish citizens,” said Wesley.
 
The public is invited to come and celebrate the new upgrades with free snow cones in the park on Saturday, March 28 and Sunday, March 29 from 12:00pm - 4:00pm.
