Yes, for good or bad the Caddo Commission is back in action on Monday.
Not only does the Commission have its regular work session at 3:30 pm, but so far there are three Commission committee meetings.
The committee meetings ARE public meetings but the edict by Commission President Greg Young virtually makes them secret meetings. He says having the meetings in the back room will allow the commissioners “to be more candid”.
The meeting schedule posted:
12:30 pm Special Projects Committee
1:00 pm Public Safety Funding Committee
2:30 pm Juvenile Justice Committee.
The Special Projects Committee will most likely have an ad hoc meeting starting at 11:30 am when they dine with key Parish employees on box lunches paid for with tax dollars. It's entertaining to spot which commissioner grabs leftover lunches for home. The public CAN attend this lunch meeting and brown bag.
To access these meetings the public must get a deputy sheriff to provide access to the side door in the reception area on the first floor of Government Plaza and then wind their way to the small back room.
Of special interest is an agenda item to “discuss Caddo Sheriff’s Office proposal regarding proposed strategies for reducing costs and improving safety at Caddo Correctional Facility which will be discussed with the Public Safety Funding Committee.
