EVEN IF REELECTED SIMS, WILL NOT BE SHREVEPORT CITY COURT CHIEF JUDGE

Sheva Sims was serving as the Chief Judge of Shreveport City Court when her nine-month suspension began this year.

Due to her suspension, Judge Brian Barber became the Chief Judge based on seniority among the elected judges.

While suspended Sims cannot participate in any official judicial actions including attending and voting at the meetings of the Shreveport city judges.

In a recent meeting the remaining three elected city judges amended their rules of procedure to disallow a suspended judge returning to the bench from serving as Chief Judge.

These judges recognized the importance of judicial integrity in the rule change which hopefully will be reflected by voters in this year’s elections.

Despite being under suspension Sims can qualify for re-election and she has launched her re-election bid.

Although her opponents cannot point out her suspensions (yes this is her second suspension) one can expect a strong anti-Sims' campaign by a local PAC.
