John came to Shreveport in January of 1977 when he was transferred to Barksdale AFB.

He’s been active in Shreveport politics since deciding to make Shreveport his home.

John practiced law for 40 years and he now monitors local politics. He regularly attends Shreveport City Council and Caddo Parish Commission meetings.

John is published weekly in The Inquisitor, bi-monthly in The Forum News, and frequently in the Shreveport Times.

He enjoys addressing civic groups on local government issues and elections.

 

NEW CHIEF JUDGE FOR SHREVEPORT CITY COURT

Shreveport City Judge Emily Merckle was sworn in as chief judge this morning. She replaces Judge Brian Barber who resigned his judgeship to accept his appointment as U.S. Marshal.
 
Judge Merckle is the youngest chief judge for Shreveport City Court, and reportedly the youngest ever appointed in Louisiana.
 
A formal investiture ceremony for Judge Merckle will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 29 at the Shreveport City Courtroom One with a following reception. The public is invited to this historic event.
