Traditionally the qualifying dates in Louisiana for the November elections are July 29-July 31.
This year the qualifying dates have been changed to August 5- August 7 due to the redistricting of the U.S. Representative districts.
Thus, candidates for U.S. Senate, U.S. Representative, Mayor, City Council, Public Service Commission and all other city/town/village/fire district elections have an additional week to quality.
John came to Shreveport in January of 1977 when he was transferred to Barksdale AFB.
He’s been active in Shreveport politics since deciding to make Shreveport his home.
John practiced law for 40 years and he now monitors local politics. He regularly attends Shreveport City Council and Caddo Parish Commission meetings.
