Markey Pierre was hired by Caddo Parish Administrator Erica Bryant to be a lobbyist at the Louisiana legislature on a six-month gig starting in April of this year at the rate of $5,000 per month. Her contract expires in September. The Legislature ends Monday, June 1.
Pierre has now been hired at the rate of $5,500 per month for five years, commencing in June, to be the administrator for the Economic Development District F, which is funded by Shreveport sales tax dollars generated in District F.
The total contract amount exceeds fifty percent (50%) of the district's escrowed funds.
The Economic Development District is a political subdivision of the City of Shreveport.
These funds are dedicated to developing new business in Councilman James Green’s District F. Pierre’s office on Fern Avenue is not in District F.
Pierre is a choir member in Green’s church.
The Parish has no public accountability requirements in its contract with Pierre. The contract with the economic district requires Pierre to submit reports that will be public records.
Sources report that Pierre has been assisting Green in his campaign for the Public Service Commission.
