John came to Shreveport in January of 1977 when he was transferred to Barksdale AFB.

He’s been active in Shreveport politics since deciding to make Shreveport his home.

John practiced law for 40 years and he now monitors local politics. He regularly attends Shreveport City Council and Caddo Parish Commission meetings.

John is published weekly in The Inquisitor, bi-monthly in The Forum News, and frequently in the Shreveport Times.

He enjoys addressing civic groups on local government issues and elections.

 

ONE CAN ONLY HOPE JACKSON’S DOWNTOWN PLANS COME TO FRUITION

Yesterday (Wednesday), Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson’s attorney gave a presentation to members of the Shreveport Film & Entertainment Economic Development Corporation, which is responsible for approval of the Louisiana Economic Development Corporation payments to Jackson in the state’s $50 million incentive package.
 
Here are the highlights of the presentation:
 
a. In December 2025 removal of underground tanks and soil remediation was completed on the Commerce Street city block;
 
b. In January of this year the state’s incentive package was approved;
 
c. In April 2026 repairs to flood damage and drainage at Millennium/G-Unit Studios were completed by the City of Shreveport;
 
d. The Commerce Street block, which is fenced off currently, will be transformed this year into a public park with kiosks, concession stands and bathrooms;
 
e. Concrete will be poured for the G-Dome slab in March 2027 on the Commerce Street block;
 
f.  Plans for the G-Dome will be submitted to the State Fire Marshal for approval later this year;
 
g. By the end of November Stageworks/Expo Hall should be up and running with productions at that location;
 
h. Presently work at Stageworks is approximately 25% complete, and roughly 10% complete at Millennium/G-Unit studios;
 
i.  Plans are in the works to produce a documentary on the Eternal Eight, Jackson’s version of “America’s Got Talent” , “Big Things Go Viral” and “Flip the City”,
 
j.  Projections are to utilize 30 to 50% of local/Louisiana workers on each G-Unit project and hopefully local construction crews.
 
k. Jackson will move his local entities/related businesses to downtown’s American Tower with the possibility of converting some office space into residential units.
 
l. Jackson plans to bring a Planet Hollywood to Shreveport.
 
m. G-Unit has partnered with Samsung to install a state-of-the-art LED display across its downtown properties.
