Derrick L. Henderson Announce Candidacy for Shreveport City Council, District G

Community organizer Derrick L. Henderson announces his candidacy for the Shreveport City Council seat representing District G.

“Over the past few months, I’ve spoken with neighborhood associations, community organizations, faith leaders, and local business owners across District G,” Henderson said. “Residents share deep concerns about the environmental, water and energy impacts of the West Shreveport data center, a lack of equitable economic development across the district, and the absence of revitalization plans and investment for Queensboro, Country Club Hills, and Ingleside.”

With the support of his family, friends, and community, Henderson said he is ready to serve. “Actions speak louder than words. District G deserves a council member who will represent the people’s interests, attend community and neighborhood meetings, and remain accountable to constituents.”

Henderson and his team will continue meeting with neighborhood and community groups to finalize a practical economic development plan for District G. They will also organize a district-wide town hall to address the environmental, energy, and water-usage concerns associated with data centers.
