Yes, it’s been really hot this month with more high heat expected through August.
Unfortunately, many Shreveport residents do not have air conditioning (AC) or functioning AC and the overwhelming majority of these are tenants.
The Shreveport Property Standards Code requires HEATING for residential units but not AC.
Repeat—AC is not required for Shreveport residential units by the Shreveport Property Standards Code.
Seemingly this factual statement by Shreveport Property Standards Director Terrence Green at yesterday’s Shreveport council work session was not fully comprehended by council members Tabatha Taylor and James Green who spent an inordinate amount of time lamenting the heat and Shreveporters with no AC.
No AC is sad reality but its not worthy of high TV drama by elected officials who could better spend their time organizing fan drives for free distribution for those with no AC.
