Caddo Parish has a noise ordinance that regulates noise in the unincorporated areas of the parish.
This ordinance will regulate noise from the proposed Amazon data center near Blanchard.
The commission’s Special Projects Committee is reviewing major amendments to the parish noise ordinance, and it will be a topic of discussion at the committee’s next meeting.
Amazon has a 15-person acoustics department that constantly implements noise reduction/mitigation from its data centers.
Any major changes to the Parish noise ordinance that will impact the Blanchard data center should not be enacted without input from Amazon.
Much like the proposed work camp ordinance that did not make it out of committee, overzealous advocates often propose measures grounded more in fear versus facts.
Thankfully Caddo Commission President Greg Young and last year’s president Stormy Gage-Watts visited state-of-the-art data centers in Virginia and can provide firsthand knowledge to the Commission on data center noise.
