John came to Shreveport in January of 1977 when he was transferred to Barksdale AFB.

He’s been active in Shreveport politics since deciding to make Shreveport his home.

John practiced law for 40 years and he now monitors local politics. He regularly attends Shreveport City Council and Caddo Parish Commission meetings.

John is published weekly in The Inquisitor, bi-monthly in The Forum News, and frequently in the Shreveport Times.

He enjoys addressing civic groups on local government issues and elections.

SBAACC TO HOST 2026 ECONOMIC SUMMIT: “THE POWER OF ECONOMICS”

Full-Day Event to Feature Candidates Fair, Economic Development Update, and Mayoral Forum

The Shreveport-Bossier African American Chamber of Commerce (SBAACC) will host its 2026 Economic Summit: “The Power of Economics” on Saturday, August 22, 2026, bringing together business leaders, public officials, economic development partners, candidates for public office, and community members for a full day dedicated to civic engagement, economic opportunity, and community conversation in Northwest Louisiana.

The Summit will be held at the Riverview Theater, Shreveport, Louisiana.

This year’s program is designed as a comprehensive civic and economic engagement experience featuring a Candidates Fair (11:00 a.m.–3:00 p.m.), an Economic Development Update (1:00 p.m.–3:00 p.m.), and a featured Economic Development Mayoral Forum (4:00 p.m.).

The event connects residents and the business community with the organizations, leaders, and candidates helping shape the future of Shreveport, Bossier City, Caddo Parish, and the broader Northwest Louisiana region.

The Candidates Fair provides the public an opportunity to interact directly with individuals seeking elected office. Candidates will have designated spaces to share information, discuss their priorities, and engage with voters in an open and accessible environment that encourages informed civic participation.

ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT UPDATE | 1:00 P.M. – 3:00 P.M.

Hear directly from local and regional organizations helping shape the future of Northwest Louisiana. Learn about current investments, upcoming opportunities, major projects, and the vision for continued economic growth throughout our region.

This session will highlight key economic development initiatives, workforce strategies, infrastructure investments, and collaborative efforts driving regional progress. Attendees will gain insight into how public and private partners are working together to expand opportunity and strengthen the local economy.

FEATURED EVENT: ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT MAYORAL FORUM | 4:00 P.M.

Hear directly from Shreveport’s mayoral candidates as they discuss their plans and priorities for economic development, small business growth, workforce development, infrastructure, and the future of our city.

The Mayoral Forum will focus on the economic future of Shreveport, with candidates responding to questions centered on job creation, business climate, investment, development opportunities, and long-term economic competitiveness. The format is designed to ensure a fair and informative exchange of ideas for the public.
