That’s the scuttlebutt that many moles are reporting.
Shreveport’s Bill Broyles is the founder/owner of the Louisiana Grandstand, which originally had concerts in the Women’s Department Club in Shreveport. The donation of this building to LSUS ousted Broyles from this venue.
Broyles recently announced that the Louisiana Grandstand will open in Bossier’s Boardwalk in 2027 featuring a 400-capacity theatre, a smaller 75-seat listening lounge, and other amenities. Broyles is also set to open a new Boardwalk restaurant, The Parish Standard, in November of this year which will be a 220-seat Louisiana-inspired eatery, bar and dedicated listening room.
Broyles was vehemently opposed to the proposed additional 2% sales tax for the East Bank and the Boardwalk proposed by Bossier councilman Chris Smith.
Krystal Montez, popularly known as Chica, is a KEEL radio personality who has a DJ business on the side. Reportedly she has a marketing relationship with Broyles and was paid to lobby many businesses in the Boardwalk and the East Bank to rally against the proposed tax districts.
Some also say she was paid to be a shill, posting on September 9 a story on the KISS radio website copy titled “Is Bossier City About to Have the Highest Sales Tax Rate in the Nation.” This same copy with a different headline was posted on the KEEL website.
Two days later Chica posted on the KEEL website: “Bossier East Bank & Boardwalk Tax Proposal Withdrawn.”
The McCarty in the Morning advertises “that if you want to know about something that is happening in Shreveport, Bossier, Louisiana, or the nation, you can hear about it each morning on KEEL”
When it comes to what’s happening in Bossier City, many tuned-in citizens can provide the real story. For my money I will go with those Bossier insiders.
