SHERIFF WHITEHORN INVITES ESCAPEE JACKSON TO RETURN TO CCC

It’s not a joke.
 
Caddo Sheriff Henry Whiehorn issued a statement this past Friday saying:
 
“I would like to speak directly to Tre’vion Jackson…You have an opportunity right now to bring this situation to a peaceful conclusion…We want to take you back into custody safely and peacefully.”
 
Presumably the high sheriff believes the escape artist who has pending charges for armed robbery and two murders will want to come back to Caddo Correction Center (CCC) because he missed interaction with three inmates to a cell, thirty or more inmates sleeping on pallets in the open pod, limited showers and outside recreation, no cell phone and  no visitors.
 
At least at CCC he could sleep on a two-inch mattress, wear an orange jumpsuit, and have jailhouse food three times a day.
 
Sheriff Henry did not promise that additional escape, battery on a corrections officer and flight from law enforcement charges would be forgiven although that could be on the table if Tre’vion calls the Sheriff to play “Let’s Make a Deal.”
 
The additional charges for battery on a private citizen, carjacking, and possibly attempted theft of a vehicle in Haughton could also be on the negotiating table.
 
Only two weeks ago Whitehorn addressed the North Shreveport Business Association, stating that crime in the parish was down and Caddo citizens were safe at their workplace, in their home and when conducting their daily activities. Maybe those comments were limited to Caddo Parish, since Jackson quickly fled to Bossier Parish and parts unknown. Ask Haughton residents how safe they feel at bedtime.
 
For those who like comparisons an AI search reviews that prior to Jackson’s flight, the last CCC escape occurred in September 2019 when two minimum-security inmates were discovered missing during an 11 p.m. headcount at the Caddo Parish Work Release facility.
 
Maybe by the time this is read, Tre’vion has accepted Whitehorn’s offer, but don’t hold your breath.
 
It’s a good thing Whitehorn is not on the November ballot for re-election.
