Bossier City Mayor Tommy Chandler has a monthly prayer luncheon, and tickets are free and on Eventbrite online.
Matt Gromlich, a candidate for the 4th Congressional District House of Representative seat held by Speaker of the House of Representatives Mike Johnson, sent in a reservation for Chandler’s luncheon on Tuesday of this week (Sept. 20). Johnson was the featured speaker.
His reservation was accepted; see the email below.
Somewhere along the way Gromlich’s planned attendance was discovered and he became persona non grata. He received this email, disinviting him:
The luncheon was held at the Bossier Parish Sheriff’s Viking Drive substation, and although a large crowd attended the room was not at full capacity—i.e., there were seats available despite Chandler’s statement of “limited seating” as the reason for disinviting Gromlich.
Hmmm.
Gromlich’s campaign assistant also made a reservation that was accepted. Evidently her affiliation with Gromlich was not known by Chandler. She received confirmation of her reservation, but she did not get a disinvite email.
Apparently Gromlich was kicked to the curb because he is a candidate for Johnson’s seat.
Surely the Speaker of the House of Representatives, who deals regularly with hostile Democrat Representatives, is not fazed by his campaign opponent at a prayer luncheon.
But then maybe God’s word and prayer at this luncheon was only for political allies of Johnson.
