THE SCOOP ON THE JIMMY DAVIS BRIDGE LINEAR PARK

John came to Shreveport in January of 1977 when he was transferred to Barksdale AFB.

He’s been active in Shreveport politics since deciding to make Shreveport his home.

John practiced law for 40 years and he now monitors local politics. He regularly attends Shreveport City Council and Caddo Parish Commission meetings.

John is published weekly in The Inquisitor, bi-monthly in The Forum News, and frequently in the Shreveport Times.

He enjoys addressing civic groups on local government issues and elections.

Sep 25 THE SCOOP ON THE JIMMY DAVIS BRIDGE LINEAR PARK

The planned linear park on the old Jimmy Davis Bridge is still on the drawing boards for completion after the new Jimmy Davis Bridge opens.

DOTD will replace the bridge deck with new paving.

The bridge will become part of the state’s park system, and it will be maintained by Louisiana Office of State Parks under the Lt. Governor’s office.

ADA-accessible ramps will be constructed to allow access to the linear park from either side of the river. Parking areas are also being designed.

The overall park design is ongoing, and more information will be available in coming months.

It is expected that the park will have paths for walking/jogging/cycling along with picnic areas.
