MARIJUANA SMOKING PERENNAIL CANDIDATE STUMPS FOR GAGE-WATTS

Gary Chambers is a civil rights activist, community organizer and perennial political candidate from Baton Rouge.
 
He ran unsuccessfully in the 2022 United States Senate election in Louisiana, the 2021 Louisiana 2d congressional special election, and in 2019 for Louisiana's 15th State Senate district.
 
On January 12, 2022, Chambers announced his candidacy to run for the U.S. Senate as a Democrat.
 
Six days later he released his first advertisement of the campaign, showing him smoking marijuana in open field while criticizing marijuana prohibition. He was the first U.S. Senate candidate in history to openly smoke weed in a political statement.
 
Chambers spoke at the recent civic engagement rally at Morningstar Missionary Baptist Church, which was closed to the media.
 
Chambers is known for leading local demonstrations in Baton Rouge.
 
He was supported by Shaun King and other national personalities in his 2021 campaign.
 
During that campaign Chambers was labeled a “firebrand” and “provocateur.” Some of his old social media postings were recirculated, including a 2011 tweet using the word “homo” and a 2015 tweet referring to “white hoes." 

He was recently videoed engaging a Black man, encouraging him to vote for Stormy Gage-Watts while wearing a Gage-Watts red campaign T-shirt. It is unknown if Chambers is being paid by Stormy’s campaign, Morningstar Church and/or the state NAACP.
